I wanted to send my niece a nice gift for Christmas and I know she has a new baby and needs to buy baby clothes and things, so I thought I would send her a Kohl's E-Gift Card via email, as she has had to move around quite a bit and I did not have her current address. I checked the email that I had used just this past summer to send her notification about my upcoming wedding and used that email address to send her an e-Gift Card.

When I latter contacted her to see if she had received it she informed me that she had discontinued using that email because she could not remember the password and couldn't log in. I thought, well, no problem, I'll just cancel the E-Gift Card or have it sent to the correct email address. But when I contacted Kohl's I was informed that the E-Gift Card had 'shipped' in their words, and could no longer be cancelled or changed in any way. So they are basically telling me that I am out $50 dollars and my niece won't get a Christmas gift unless I cough up more money.

What kind company doesn't have a contingency plan for situations like this? I work in eCommerce and our company can easily cancel E-Gift cards when there is an issue. How can I have no recourse to recover the money I spent?

I am going to have to dispute the charges with my credit card company to get my money back as the folks at Kohl's were absolutely no help. I will never shop at Kohl's again and I will be posting these details on Social Media so that all my friends can avoid shopping there too.

Reason of review: Problems with payment.

Location: Medford, Oregon

Sir,

You seem like the type of person who would rather spend 5 hours complaining online how awful a company to your online "friends" instead of just getting in your car and driving 3 miles to the store. Next time instead of being lazy doing an "e gift card" which as you learned has no tracking, purchase a plastic gift card from the store and mail it to her house, or write out a check to give her.

I know the new fad is sob stories and attention seeking on social media for hour and hours over and issue that you could have done by getting your lazy *** to the store for a whopping 4 minutes to buy the card and mail it. Leave the social media drama attention seekers for others as it makes adults look very immature.
