I have been a very avid shopper at Kohl's for the last 7 yrs. I have used my Kohl's MVC credit card for most of those purchases to take advantage of the discount coupons (that they are constantly mailing to me).

I almost always paid my Kohl's credit card off the following month after purchases. My husband uses electronic banking to pay our bills. I decided to review our credit card bills to see what interest rate we are paying on each. As I reviewed the Kohl's bill I saw a title labeled "fees" - $3.23.

I knew it wasn't a late fee because that would have been a substantially higher amount. The interest paid to date= $9.70. The "fees" to date=$85.70. I called Kohl's Customer Card Services to inquire as to what this "fees" actually stands for.

After explaining my inquiry to the Service Rep. he said he would have to "research" my card account to answer my question. I told him that if he understood what the other headings, such as "account balance", "purchases" and so on meant , that he knew what "fees" stood for and he needed to give me an answer (without his "research" act). He himmed and hawwed, then finally admitted that the "fees" is a monthly charge to the customer, that Kohl's in turn uses to purchase an insurance policy on the customer's account in the event that they default, ensuring Kohl's will get paid any outstanding balance on the card.

He further said it was because I had the "premium MVC (most valued customer) LOL that I was being charged this "fee". I told him that if I have had to pay $85.70 to date, for an insurance policy on my account that I have only paid $9.70 to date in interest (interest rate of 26.99%) than there was a big problem. A big problem with Kohl's credit card practices. I only have a $1500 line of credit to boot!

I don't need a bigger line of credit, because I usually don't keep a balance on the card and Kohl's doesn't carry "big ticket" items such as stoves, refrigerators, etc. So I closed the account and will shop somewhere else. "Kohl's Cash" is another scam of theirs as well. Just a way to reel you in for more purchases at a later date.

But people love "free" stuff.

Wait until you try and return something that you used "Kohl's cash" to pay for, in part or full. You will have to look up that policy as it is too ridiculous to explain here.

Monetary Loss: $85.

Sounds like a scam to me I will pay it off and never buy anything from Kohls again. I barely noticed.

I haven't been purchased anything lately and paying my bills monthly. But my balance keeps going up.

The Kohl's Cash policy is not rediculus. You are.

If you buy something with Kohl's Cash and then return it, you get refunded the Kohl's Cash you used to buy it.

Simple. Return in the original form of payment.

It's sad that some people can be this ***.

I also found this fee on my card recently, My fee was 47.69 a month for the last 5 years.. I called them and explained to them that I did not sign up for this..

they said you are right and they will credit it back to my account from the first statement 5 years ago.. They were very accommodating to me..

Just got phone w/ a "supervisor" . Let's just say her English was not a 1st language, very hard to get through conversation.

Asked why my apr was so high- 21.90% , told me all kohls clients had same. I was not aware of another credit card taking over or that rates r going up to 24.90% . I only had $9.60 in chg's last cycle and interest was over $30.00.

Canceling acct.

This cannot be fair practice, I consider it very excessive as I always pay on time and twice the amt. due. I and a LOT of friends r boycotting Kohls for unfair / illegal price&account gouging. They r a cheap store anyway and not the excessive fee's/ rates.

They have been in trouble b/4 and it will happen again. Shame on them

This is a fraud on customers even after KOHLS CLAIMS to have stopped charging customers it continues.

Kohls "researched" their records and admitted that I did NOT agree to sign up for the credit card insurance at the time I opened my account. They refunded me the $85.70 + $1,56 in interest.

My account is paid off and CLOSED. I also will not do any further business with Kohls after I take advantage of their $10 gift coupon on a purchase of $10 or more (regardless of method of payment).

I will be sure that I purchase something for less than $15. Back at ya Kohls.

@TheKohlsExtraordinaire Capital One (which Kohls has contracted to managed it credit card KOHLS still ownes it) has already been fined for these fees being added without the customers consent!! It is a matter of time before they will be fined again for KOHLS credit card involvement in the SCAM.

It's not the fault of Kohl's that you failed to properly agree to or decline the Kohl's Account Ease protection on your credit card. Let me guess, you fail to read the fine print on your credit card agreements and you blame the companies instead of blaming yourself?!!

There was nothing for me to read since I got my card at the register and nothing about an account ease premium was ever mentioned. I would never agree to something so ridiculous. You must work for Kohls.

I doubt that, I am sure it was either there at the register/something you signed at the register or they sent it to you in the mail with the physical card. Either way they provided the information and it's up to you to read it.

This fee is ridiculous. It showed up for us on this statement for the first time.

On the phone they couldnt help.

They act like they dont know anything about the fee.

They give you the run around for sure.

Cancelling this *** card tonight.

No more kohl shopping for us.

I am investigating into a possible class action lawsuit against Kohl's for charging credit card customers for plans they did not sign up for, such as "account ease." I welcome the opportunity to speak with you about your experience and there is no financial obligation to you. Thank you for your consideration.

I agree. They sell *** in bulk and charge outrageous interest rates. They owe us consumers big time- BOYCOTT- they got greedy b/4 and r doing it again.

When you sign up for a Kohl's charge you are asked to "opt in" for the account protection. It is not kohl's fault that you did not read what you agreed to.

This is a complete lie. They are signing up customers without the customers knowledge.

Even after the Customers has caught them and have asked to be refunded and have been refunded it has appeared again. Hence the class action suit!!

Get your facts before you post!!

Yes Lina. You must work for Kohls to be supporting them.

You shouldn't have to opt out of something. They do this so you get charged the fees who in there right mind would want to pay a phony insurance for a *** kohls credit card.
