Written by slstringfellow on May 30, 2011 from indianapolis, indiana, US I had always paid my Kohl's card in full- I had a balance of less than 60.00 that was overdue (don't know what happened to the bill) and they called me about it (an automated phone bot) at 9:45 on a Sunday morning! I called right up and cancelled the card! |
2. Written by Me on May 27, 2011 from sarnia, ontario, CA Kohls great things !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a balance of $252.00 on my card, went into the Port Huron store on May 15th and paid $180.00 leaving a balance of $$72.00. On May 17th they tacked a $35.00 late fee & interest. $35.00 penalty on a $72.00 balance is beyond extortion here. Stay clear of a Kohls card !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. Written by LadyInJax on December 27, 2010 from jacksonville, florida, US I, too, have recently encountered a similar issue, which started in January 2010. I signed up for paperless billing, and I NEVER received the email alerts that I had a bill with an outstanding balance of $8.54. (I surmise that my email hosting service rejected the email as Spam, or they never sent the bill as they claimed.) I had, however, received a letter in the regular mail stating that I was two months late. I called immediately to get this resolved, and the interest and late fee were removed. A few months later, I checked my credit reports, and I was shocked to find that this $8.54 was reflecting negatively on my credit. I have numerous account with Chase, which issued the card, and I have NEVER been late on any of their cards, and always pay my balances in full, including balances in the $thousands that I always pay in full. After numerous calls and letters (not only to Kohl's but also to the credit agencies), I asked to have someone from their credit reporting department call me, since this is ridiculous. It's now two weeks later, and I have yet to receive a call. I am about to apply for a mortgage, and I am not at all happy about this reflecting poorly on my credit. If I had received the bill before it was originally due, I would have paid it! My next stop is to contact Chase and Kohl’s headquarters. Wish me luck!
5. Written by hollywood1919 on December 27, 2010 from chicago, illinois, US Companies are not going to babysit you and hold your hand while you pay your bills. You ruined your own credit. YOU lost the bill, not Kohls. Take responsibility!
6. Written by hjgcgc on August 1, 2010 from columbus, ohio, US So, pay your *** i n g bill on time. You've had the card for years, so you should know when the payment is due. This is YOUR fault, not Kohls. Try being responsible, you dumbass.
7. Written by FormerKohls'Customer on June 24, 2010 from madison, wisconsin, US @C I've borrowed and tens of thousands of dollars over the last decade and paid it all back. The only difference between Kohls' and just about every other store is that Kohls' WILL report and HURT your score if you're late on a few payments(my wife's credit dipped to 735) whereas others will not.
8. Written by C on June 12, 2010 from -, -, US Okay.... people, chase is a financial "Backer" for kohls. Basicaly and insurrance policy for them.... They don't see a single dime of our money what so ever. If you don't pay you D*** bill on time it will automaticaly *** a late fee to you acct regardless of you age, payment history, or credit, the interest rate is the same for everyone so it can not be lowered. Come on people... pay your bills
9. Written by EFTA on March 28, 2010 from philadelphia, pennsylvania, US 1. Kohl's has chosen Chase to partner with. While Chase may be directly responsible, it is Kohl's name on the card, Chase's only shows up on in the fine print and on the back of the bill. It is entirely reasonable to hold Kohl's responsible. 2. Beware of using Kohl's automated payment systems. Even if you are given a confirmation number, and the system informs you that your balance is zero, you may still be charged for a return check charge even if you bank has not been presented with a demand for payment and this fee will not be waived. 3. Those that beleive they may have been wronged by Chase should file a complaint with the Office of the Comptroller of Currency. Venting your frustration on a web site is unlikely to have any effect.
10. Written by fifi on March 12, 2010 from royal oak, michigan, US Like "Customer Service Rep" said above, Kohl's "sold" their credit to a major bank ... I will name it because I am 100% sure who it is. CHASE! I only have one thing to say... if you use the card... PAY the card! As with any credit card, that company that extended that line of credit to you expects you to hold up your end of the deal and PAY! Whether it's $1000 or if it's 50 cents!
