I recently bought some sheets from Kohl's on a buy one, get one half off sale. The very next day, the sheets went from $110 to $40. I called customer service to see if I could get a credit for the difference, and after a lot of back-and-forth, I was told that I had to return the sheets and order them again at the new price. $15 in shipping, since I don't have a Kohl's in my area, but fine. The next day, I placed my second order for the sheets. Forty minutes later, I called customer service to add a few other items to the second order (the policy is that changes can be made as long as less than an hour has gone by). Again, this was forty minutes later. The representative said that I could still change the order, but she kept putting me on hold for several minutes at a time. When she finally came back, she said that I could no longer add to the order, as too much time had gone by (wasn't that her fault?). The only thing she could do was cancel the previous order and then place a new one. Having been on the phone for almost an hour at this point, I said that would be fine as long as I could get the same items. She assured me that this wouldn't be a problem.

She started the order but kept putting me on hold again. After twenty mintues of this, she then informed me that the sheets I'd been trying to order were no longer in stock.

I asked to speak to a supervisor. She said, "All right, ma'am. Give me a minute, and I'll get my supervisor."

And then she hung up on me.

I really wish I'd remembered her name, because she'd been very rude throughout the conversation and kept acting like I was a terrible inconvenience even though I was nothing but polite to her, but I needed those sheets and so called back to see if anyone would help me. Fortunately, I was able to get a lovely woman named Marcia, who checked the inventory and saw that, no, those sheets weren't out of stock, after all. It took her a few minutes, but she was able to order all of the items I'd orginally had, plus the new things, in a fraction of the time.

I do love the things Kohl's has, because I've been using these items for vacation rentals, and they've held up surprisingly well even with multiple washings and hard use. It's just that the customer service is usually pretty heinous. Even calls for little things turn into a long and very frustrating hassle, and the representatives have been consistently rude or unhelpful.

Moral of the story: buy from Kohl's, but don't expect help from customer service.

Reason of review: Pricing issue.

Why decide to add a bunch of things to the same order less than an hour later anyway? Why not be sure you have everything you want before you finalize the order? Seems odd to change your mind that quickly.

I'm not sure how far you are from the nearest Kohl's, but you could have gone to the closest store with your online receipt and they could have given you a price adjustment and you could have driven there and back in the amount of time it took you to go through all of that over the phone.
